At the beginning of this semester, I had zero experience in public relations, aside from managing my own social media accounts. If you had told me in January that I’d be learning from so many students and professionals, I might have believed you. But if you had told me that I’d be in a director position at Valley with a good enough resume to be considered for internships, I’d have thought you were crazy. In four months, I’ve found many friends and mentors that have formed the basis of my professional network. It’s amazing how much I’ve gained.
As this year comes to a close, I’ve been focusing on planning ahead. I’ve perfected my resume and cover letter, compiled a portfolio of the work I’ve done so far and have applied to many, many summer internships. Now I just need to get through finals before I can go home and begin interviewing for those positions. I hope that I can find an internship for this summer. I know that it’s early in my college career to get one, but I feel like this semester has given me an upper hand. I am prepared to gain experience in a real business. I am excited to see what happens!
Oh! And any advice for my interviews would be very much appreciated!
